New rehearsal venue

From Oct 13th 2025 Greystones Orchestra will be holding its rehearsals at Loreto Girls’ Secondary School, Vevay Road, Bray.  The new rehearsal venue will provide us with multiple rooms in order to enable sectional practices when required, something not available in our previous rehearsal venue in Greystones.  It will also be more accessible to orchestra members travelling from Dublin and beyond.

Rehearsals are held every Monday evening from 8-10pm.  If you are an instrumentalist and would like to play with us, go to our Join Us page, fill out the application form and we will be back in touch.

Mostly Mozart in Greystones

Greystones Orchestra is delighted to present our summer concert in Greystones on June 8th, under the baton of our musical director, Cillian O’Breachain. This special evening will feature two beloved masterpieces by Mozart, alongside a vibrant and captivating orchestral suite by the 20th-century Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas. Adding to the excitement, we are honoured to welcome Silvija Ščerbavičiūtė, the principal flautist of the RTE Concert Orchestra, as our soloist for Mozart’s enchanting Flute Concerto. Join us for an unforgettable night of joyous melodies and let us celebrate the beauty of summer together with inspiring and uplifting music.

Ferenc Farkas – March Suite
Mozart – Flute concerto nr. 1 in G major
Mozart – Symphony nr. 40 in G minor

Greystones Orchestra at the Movies – May 25 in the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones

 

For our summer concert this year we’re taking a trip to the cinema, with an exciting programme of film music from movie blockbusters including Jurassic Park, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, Batman and many more.  The concert is taking place at 8pm on Saturday 25 May in the Holy Rosary Church in Greystones.  Tickets costing €20 (€15 for full-time students and under-18s) can be obtained from orchestra members or bought at the door on the evening of the concert.

We are delighted to welcome André Cavanagh as our guest conductor for this concert.  As well as being a noted French horn soloist and professional orchestral player, André has held conducting positions with the Fingal Youth Orchestra, Blackrock College Orchestra, Blackrock Jazz Band, Knocklyon Concert Band and is currently director of the Newpark Community Orchestra.

Summer concert 21 May 2022

Greystones Orchestra recently presented our 2022 summer concert on 21st May in Belmont Desmesne, Greystones on a beautiful sunny Saturday evening.  We were delighted to be able to perform again in front of a live audience after a break of over two years since our last public performance, an experience which was greatly enjoyed by performers and audience alike.   We were also delighted to share the stage with the Major Minors Junior Orchestra – Greystones Orchestra members of the future!

The programme included the following pieces:

Mozart: Overture to Don Giovanni
Mozart: Symphony nr. 29 (1st movement)
Doppler: Andante and Rondo Op.25 (soloists, Claire  Shortall and Michelle LeMay)
Krommer: Concerto for Two Clarinets in E-Flat Major, Op.35 (soloists Robert Clarke and Simonas Ciunka)
